Welcome back!  This is Part 5 of a 10 part series on the "10 Things You Need to Know About Infrared Inspection Windows. Knowing the field of view for an IR window is an essential part of selecting the appropriate size window for your intended inspection point as choosing an oversized window could make the project more costly than is necessary. Martin Robinson, CEO of IRISS explains how to calculate FOV and other important factors in Part 5 of this webinar series.

Part 3 showed how emissivity is essential to getting true readings during IR inspections and that if a target is a poor emitter then it will actually reflect temperatures from other components close to the target object of the scan. Part 4 showed how knowing the transmittance rate of an IR window before you perform as scan is essential. If you were to perform a scan with incorrect transmittance information than any figures gathered from the scan would be null and void, also when it comes to crystal windows transmittance may not be the stated rate.
